One of the
problems with filming Non-League and Amateur football is the lack of a
television gantry at most of the venues, so instead of being
somewhere safe and out of sight (i.e. up on a stand roof or on a
purpose-built platform at the back of a stand) our cameramen often find
themselves positioned right on the touchline or in amongst the crowd
while attempting to film matches. This therefore gives spectators,
players and even Linesmen the chance to make what they think are clever
and original comments for the benefit of the camera, when in reality
these comments have been uttered so often whilst we have been filming
that our cameramen are getting fed up with giving these people an answer
!
Here are the best/worst of
them (in 'Most Used' order !):
- 'IS THIS GONNA BE ON SKY ?'
- 'DID YOU GET THAT ?' (As if we
didn't !)
- 'HOPE YOU GOT THAT ON VIDEO'
- 'CAN YOU DO AN ACTION REPLAY OF THAT ?' (Meaning
Immediately !)
- 'MAKE SURE YOU GET PLENTY OF ME ON THERE'
(Usually made by Youth Team Managers who then 'inadvertently' walk
up and down the touchline right in front of the camera throughout
the match...getting right in the way of all the action !)
- 'OY CAMERA ! GET ME ON FILM'
- 'OY CAMERAMAN...DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE LENS CAP OFF NEXT
TIME'
(Usually shouted out by a spectator just after
somebody scores a spectacular goal)
- 'MAKE SURE YOU GET MY GOOD SIDE'
(Usually made by the Linesman nearest the camera...pointing to his
face !)
- 'DO YOU DO PORNO ?'
- 'SEND THAT IN TO "YOU'VE BEEN FRAMED", WILL YA ?'
Our advice to players,
supporters (and Linesmen) is therefore:
Please think of something different
to say next time ! |
