OUR PRICING STRUCTURE...EXPLAINED
|
|
Unlike other professional video companies, we prefer to
charge a very low price for filming, editing & production, and charge
relatively high prices for extra copies rather than the other way round.
This ensures that Non-League and amateur clubs can afford to have their game filmed in the
first place.
Another reason why our prices are so low is because we use cameras which are
at the lower end of the professional broadcast-quality market (i.e. between
£1,500 & £5,000), yet are more than adequate for filming football matches.
Also, we spend a minimal amount on advertising as virtually all of our work
is obtained as a result of clubs recommending us to other clubs, and indeed
the more clubs that do this, the better it is for them as it will keep our
prices down.
Most other professional video companies tend to use cameras that are at the
top of the range (i.e. in the £25,000 price bracket) as most of their work
is in television programme production, corporate video production, and
Weddings for the 'rich & famous'. Because of the high cost of the cameras
they use, these companies quote between £300-£600 to film a football match,
which is way beyond the means of most amateur or semi-professional clubs.
Invariably, those quotes include only one copy, whereas we include six free
copies with our filming, editing & production fee.
In addition to that, other video companies' cameramen often have little
experience of filming football matches and most of the time we are able to
do a much better job for a fraction of the price.
For extra copies of DVD's and/or VHS videos
(including orders from our back-catalogue)
we charge either £8.50 per copy (for bulk orders) or £11.00 per copy for
individual orders. This is actually
quite expensive compared to other video companies, who often sell their
copies for as low as £5.00 each.
There are a number of reasons why we charge high prices for our copies.
Firstly, as already mentioned, we prefer to charge a low price for filming,
editing & production so that clubs can afford to have their game covered in
the first place. This means that we have to charge a worthwhile price for
copies otherwise we would not make enough money to survive as a business.
Secondly, a large number of clubs are happy just to have the 6 free copies
they receive after making their filming, editing & production payment and
they do not bother ordering any extra copies, even if they have won the
match ! In most cases this is almost certainly because they are
running their own extra copies off, which is of course illegal, but
widespread and very easy and tempting to do. Our way of penalising clubs who
do this is to give preference for filming future matches to those who always
order extra copies from us, should there be an occasion when we have two
matches that need covering at the same time, but only one cameraman
available.
The other main reason for the high price of our DVD copies is the length of
time it takes to produce a DVD Master Copy. Although it is very quick and
easy to run off further copies from the Master Copy, the actual production
of the Master Copy itself involves an extremely lengthy rendering, encoding
& authoring process because of all the titles, slow-motion replays and
transitions that we include when we are editing the footage. In addition to
that, the full-colour inserts that we produce with still-frame shots from
the match footage use up a large amount of printer ink very quickly, and
that greatly adds to the expense involved in producing the copies.
However, bearing in mind that some video companies who film Non-League
football matches in other parts of the Country often send out their copies
completely unedited straight from the camera master tape onto DVD for £5.00 each (or a similarly
low price) in just a plain library box, the prices for our copies are
probably quite reasonable. |

RECOMMENDED RETAIL
PRICE FOR MATCH DVD'S & VIDEOS ON SALE IN CLUB SHOPS
|
|
We
recommend that all Match DVD's and/or videos are sold in club shops (or to supporters
by any other means) at £11.00 per copy as
this will 'tie in' with the prices that we advertise on this website. This
will result in a profit of £2.50 per copy for your club providing you place minimum orders
of five copies at a time (to buy them at £8.50 per copy from us).
However, we have no objections if some clubs prefer to sell their DVD's & videos to supporters at a slightly higher
price to make more profit for themselves. |

|
HOW
YOU CAN MAKE A PROFIT FOR YOUR CLUB FROM BUYING EXTRA COPIES
|
|
If a club pays
£95.00 to have a match filmed and orders another 10 copies
(at £8.50 each) in addition to the 6 free copies, it works out at
just £11.25 per copy on DVD for the club to break even, so by charging
each player or supporter £15.00 (for example), you can make a profit of £60.00 for your
club by booking us to film your match. If you charge each player or
supporter
£20.00, you can make a profit of £140.00 !
Even if your opponents have not booked us to film
the match and you are paying the £140.00 filming, editing & production fee,
it still works out at just £14.06 per copy on
DVD (with an order of 10 additional copies...16
in total) for you to break even.
We are finding
that because it is a fairly new technology with plenty of 'novelty' value,
most players are willing to pay up to £20.00 each to obtain a DVD of
themselves in action, so you will still be able to make a profit for your
club.
If you are a Non-League club selling
DVD's to supporters at our recommended retail price of £11.00 per copy and
have paid the £140.00 filming, editing & production cost (for which you
receive 6 free copies), you will only need
to order an additional 30 copies (at £7.00 each) to break even. Most
Non-League clubs with a fan base of over 250 should therefore be able to
sell a total of 36 copies at £11.00 each fairly easily, then for any further
copies ordered on top of that, the club makes £4.00 profit per copy.
Alternatively, if a Non-League club can guarantee that they will order a
minimum of 25 copies of a match and pay for those copies in advance or on
the day of the match (win or lose), we may be able to waive the Filming,
Editing & Production costs. However, all copies will be priced at £8.50 each
instead of £7.00 per copy if we agree to that.
Please also note that if a freelance cameraman has to be hired to film the
match, it is unlikely that we will be able to afford to waive the Filming,
Editing & Production costs unless a minimum order of 40 copies (@ £8.50 per
copy) is placed. |
